To make the problem a one-dimensional strain problem, all four lateral faces are on rollers; thus, the three-dimensional model simulates a one-dimensional problem. The material is steel with the properties shown in Figure 1. The free end of the bar is subjected to a blast load with a magnitude of 1.0 × 105 Pa and a duration of 3.88 × 10−5 s.
