Loading an X–Y data object to the current session

When you create an X–Y data object, you must save it to be able to manipulate the data within a session. You can then copy the X–Y data object to an output database file so that you can access it from a later session. The XY Data Manager lists the X–Y data objects that are available from two sources: the current session or the current output database file. If you have created an X–Y data object in a previous session and copied it to an output database file, you must load the X–Y data object to the current session to manipulate it.

  1. From the main menu bar, select ToolsXY DataManager.

    The XY Data Manager appears.

    Tip: You can also access the XY Data Manager from the tool in the toolbox.

  2. Toggle on Current ODB: odb_name as the Data Source to see a list of the X–Y data objects associated with the currently open output database file.

  3. Select an X–Y data object to load.

  4. Click Load to Session.

  5. Toggle on Current session as the Data Source.

    The loaded X–Y data object will be listed as available; you can now edit, copy, rename, or delete this X–Y data object.
