Customizing the image saved in TIFF, PNG, or SVG files

When you print viewports to a TIFF, PNG, or SVG format file, you can customize the resulting image. You can save an image that is the same size as the image on the screen, or you can specify the size of the image in pixels.

  1. From the main menu bar, select FilePrint.

    Note:

You can also click in the File toolbar.

    The Print dialog box appears.

  2. In the File name text field, type the file name or click to select the file name from the standard file browser.

  3. From the Format field, select TIFF, PNG, or SVG.

  4. From the bottom of the Print dialog box, click the TIFF Format Options, PNG Format Options, or SVG Format Options button.

    The appropriate dialog box appears.

  5. From the Image Size field, choose one of the following:

    • Choose Use size on screen to save an image that is the same size as the overall width and height of the viewports that you select for printing. Abaqus/CAE displays the resulting size to the right of the Use size on screen radio button.

    • Choose Use settings below to specify the width or height of the resulting image in units of pixels. Abaqus/CAE computes the other dimension to maintain the aspect ratio of the viewports. The maximum allowed image dimension (width or height) is 4096 pixels.

  6. Click OK to save your customization settings and to close the dialog box.

  7. For color PNG and TIFF images, you can use the default 8-bit color depth (256 colors) or toggle off Reduce to 256 colors to use more colors, which increases the file size but allows the image to more closely match the display.

If you do not use the default setting, the number of colors available for an image depends on the system type and settings. For Windows systems, Abaqus/CAE uses 24-bit color (1.67 million colors). For Linux systems, Abaqus/CAE uses the same color setting as the display.

  8. When you have finished with the Print dialog box, click OK to generate the desired output.

Abaqus/CAE generates the output and closes the Print dialog box. Your settings in the Print dialog box are saved for the duration of the session.
