Controlling drag mode

Drag mode controls the appearance of your model during rotation, pan, or zoom view manipulations. Drag mode can be set to Fast (wireframe) or As is.

Fast (wireframe)

When you set drag mode to Fast (wireframe), a wireframe outline is drawn during the view manipulation. Fast (wireframe) is the default drag mode setting on compliant systems.

As is

When you set drag mode to As is, everything displayed in the window will continue to be displayed during the view manipulation. On older or slower systems the display may lag behind movement of the mouse while you manipulate the view, especially if the model is complex. For newer systems with graphics hardware acceleration the As is setting can be accommodated without significant loss of performance.

Set the drag mode to As is to observe the model during the view manipulation; for example, to locate areas of high stress concentration as you rotate a contour plot.

Context:

In addition, you can choose whether Abaqus/CAE will auto-fit the image to the current viewport after you rotate the view. Automatically fitting the image to the viewport is equivalent to clicking the auto-fit tool in the View Manipulation toolbar. Auto-fit adjusts your view of the model so that the model fills the viewport and is centered within it. The orientation remains fixed, as indicated by the view triad.

  1. Locate the drag mode options.

From the main menu bar, select ViewGraphics Options.

Abaqus/CAE displays the Graphics Options dialog box.

  2. From the View Manipulation field, select Fast (wireframe) or As is drag mode.

  3. If desired, toggle on Auto-fit after rotations.

  4. Click OK to implement your changes and to close the dialog box.

Your changes are saved for the duration of the session.
