Deleting a mesh

You can delete Abaqus native meshes throughout entire parts, part instances, or just within selected regions. To delete a mesh, select either MeshDelete Part Native Mesh, MeshDelete Instance Native Mesh, or MeshDelete Region Native Mesh from the main menu bar.

Context:

Note: Deleting a mesh does not cause the underlying seeds to be deleted, so you can modify the seeding pattern and regenerate the mesh.

  1. From the main menu bar, select either MeshDelete Part Native Mesh, MeshDelete Instance Native Mesh, or MeshDelete Region Native Mesh.

    Abaqus/CAE displays prompts in the prompt area to guide you through the procedure.

    Tip: You can also delete meshes using the or tools, located with the mesh tools in the Mesh module toolbox. (For more information, see Using the Mesh module toolbox.)

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If you are deleting a part mesh, click Yes from the prompt area to confirm that you want to delete the mesh.

    • If you are deleting region meshes from a part or an assembly, select the regions from which to delete the mesh. Click mouse button 2 to indicate that you have finished selecting. (For more information on selecting objects, see Selecting objects within the viewport.)

    • If you are deleting instance meshes from the assembly, select the instances from which to delete the mesh. Click mouse button 2 to indicate that you have finished selecting. (For more information on selecting objects, see Selecting objects within the viewport.)

    Abaqus/CAE deletes the mesh.
